Concrete Paver Coping Options
Alternative to precast concrete coping are coping PAVERS. They are also concrete products but are of a different style.
Typically used on new pool construction. Full thickness 60 mm diameter coping is taller than remodel coping and is not designed to cover up any waterline tile or mudcap tile. This is installed flush with the top of the pool beam wall, or on the concrete steps if installed on a deck. Contrasted with most fullsize pavers are installed on compacted base on ground/grade.
Remodel coping are also called “coverup coping” because they are designed primarily to cover up the old style 2″ x 6″ “Mudcap” tiles which were an older construction method to beautify and protect corner beads where the waterline tile joined the deck. The lip that protrudes down on coverup or remodel tile covers up this old mudcap tile or occupies the unused space in the deck wall. Additionally these copings are half as thick as new install pavers as they are designed to be thin enough to not rise higher than backyard door thresholds.
